Kiva

A Kiva is a sacred place to find console and council with ”those who are mostly silent“ as in the whisper that is blowing in the wind. Held firmly by Mother Earth those that enter the opening do so with a respect for that which will transpire during the offerings and intonations from the elders. A powerful experience the consulting and connecting with the Earth elements holds renewal and the promise of rejuvenating and strengthening the life force we are birthed with.

The entrance spot on this earth called the Kiva site has a mature tree canopy of leaves filtering the light and nesting the ground squirrels. Including pine, spruce, maple and oak the tall ones have beautifully filtered the land higher up from the passing of weary and hurried travelers. Gently rising and leveling from the driveway entrance imagine a home in the round nestled into the earth like a mushroom popping out of the soil and rooms arranged co-centricaly with large overhangs, the windows provide wide eyed openings at an earthen termed ground level. Each off the central corridor which is the homes heart. The space functioning as kitchen, dining, and living rooms. Like the spokes of a wheel the other spatial needs radiate out and over the Kiva houses core. Like the mushroom it provides a balance to the work inside. In the middle is a court of sorts with extended season use or softened beauty in the season of the white stuff!
